ThreadYard.org is a community archive of vintage apparel, run by a non-profit organization.
- We only collect what the site needs to work. We don't sell your information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics tools.
- Your username, profile and published entries are public. Your email address, messages and IP addresses are not.
- Location data is removed from every photo you upload.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
What we store
Your account
Your username, email address and password. Passwords are stored encrypted, so nobody can read them, us included. If you turn on two-factor login, we store what's needed to check your codes.
Your profile
Anything you choose to add: a profile picture, location, "About me", favorites, social media links, your class and XP. All of it is optional and shown publicly on your member page.
What you submit
Entries, photos, backstories, suggested edits, votes and reports. Published entries are public, with your username. When you upload a photo we strip out its hidden details (EXIF data, including the GPS location many phones add), so they're never stored or shown.
Instagram imports: the data download you upload is only used to find your photos and is deleted as soon as it has been checked.
Messages
Messages between members are private: only the two of you see them on the site. If you report a message, the moderators see that one message, not the rest of the conversation.
IP addresses
When you're logged in, we note the internet (IP) addresses you use. They're used only to keep suspended members from coming back under a new account. The server's own logs also record the addresses of visits for a short time, to deal with attacks and errors.
Cookies and your browser
We use only the cookies the site needs: one that keeps you logged in, and one that protects forms against forgery. Your browser also remembers a few display choices on your own device (for example the card size when browsing). No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
Who else handles your information
We use a few companies to run the site. They only get what they need to do their job, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
- OVHcloud runs the server that stores the site (in Canada).
- Brevo sends the site's emails (sign-up codes and the alerts you choose), so it sees your email address and the email's contents.
- Cloudflare handles the site's domain name, the "human check" that stops bots, and emails sent to our addresses, and delivers public files such as photos from its servers near you.
We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect members or the site from fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and what you've submitted until you delete it or ask us to. Our backups are kept for up to a year, so deleted information can stay in them until they expire. Records of moderation decisions and reports may be kept to protect the community.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your profile details at any time, on Edit profile.
- Choose which emails you get, and whether other members can message you, in Email settings. Messages are off unless you turn them on.
- Block any member from their profile or your conversation with them.
- Ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion of your account, by emailing support ~at~ threadyard.org.
Children
ThreadYard isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child under 13 has an account, please tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes we'll also tell members in their Inbox.
